Sage was super responsive and the guys were respectful in my home and a pleasure to have around. They did a full remodel - including removing walls, renovating the kitchen and upstairs bathroom, and adding a bathroom and laundry room. If there were any issues that came up they would let us know right away and help us fix it. They left everything very clean and neat at the end of the day. Their quality was great too. Will definitely use Sage again

Not only did they do a great job, but they completed the project in the timeline they gave me, which rarely happens in construction. Over many years, Sage Construction has done countless projects for us, everything from a major addition including existing renovations, to kitchen and bath renovations, front and back porch updates, and so many smaller projects. They’re always full of great ideas on how things should be done, as well as a professional manor. They leave the job tidy and are very respectful of our family privacy. We had a great meeting with Mark Rooney but waited for a couple of months for an estimate which he never sent. We followed up a couple of times and were told “delays” This does not seem very professional. Maybe Sage is too busy to add any clients. We are very serious about our house project so we’’re moving forward with another company that respects our business more. Sorry we don’t have a better review to report. We were really looking forward to working with them after hearing some good things.

Fifteen years after we hired Sage for a project we discovered some problems with the work they had performed. We thought we would have them come out and discuss addressing the issues and understood that it was past a reasonable warranty period. However, they never returned our multiple calls and attempts to fix the problem. In good conscience I could never recommend them or use them again.

took forever to schedule for someone to come over for estimate on repair work, and than was non responsive with estimate. Had to call multiple times for them to get it to me. Estimate was very basic. Did not fully describe cost with work. The info they provide was not exceptible to insurance company.

I recently met with Jeff Hoopingarner of Sage Construction about a large-scale reconstruction job that was done by another contractor on a rental property I co-own with my sister, which turned out to be a disaster: Despite the original contractor’s promise that all work would be done in accordance with Fairfax County building code, he did not pull permits and performed work that violated the building code. We ended up being cited by Fairfax County for multiple code violations.I had called in a major DC-area remodeling company, which viewed the property but simply declined to take on the job of correcting the violations without giving any explanation.In contrast, Mr. Hoopingarner generously gave me more than a half hour of his time to discuss the problems and, after viewing a video I made showing all the problem areas inside the home, said he would need to look at the property firsthand but also said it would be difficult to give an estimate on at least one of the things that needed to be done - raising the basement ceiling – before actually starting the work.Also, contrary to his interests as a contractor, he suggested I call in a real estate agent to look at the place, noting they might be willing to buy the property as is - something I had not thought of.I took Mr. Hoopingarner’s advice and called in a real estate agent, who made what my sister and I feel is a reasonable offer to buy the property as is.Thus, Mr. Hoopingarner gave me what turned out be invaluable advice about how to deal with a disaster caused by an unscrupulous contractor. He did so despite the fact that it didn’t benefit him financially, and he didn’t charge me for the meeting or several follow-up phone calls and e-mails.Given the dishonest contractors that are out there, Mr. Hoopingarner’s candor, honesty and generosity with his time deserves being be noted.
