I have used Hammersmith to maintain slate roofs on two homes. Both times were great experiences. Most recently we worked with Justin to do some pretty extensive slate roof work on our new home. Justin goes above and beyond in terms of communication, follow up, and customer service. The crews were polite, and left the area clean. I would recommend Hammersmith without hesitation.

We were referred by friends to Hammersmith and we are so glad we went with them! Justin came out promptly and gave us an accurate estimate. Even with all the rain we have been getting, they were able to get us in quickly and finished the roof within a day. The guys did a great job on the roof and also cleaned up after themselves and did a thorough sweep with the magnet for any metal that could have fallen. We have not found any debris on the ground. I got multiple quotes from different companies and Justin was by far the most down to earth and honest guy we met! The pricing was great too, and the work was quality! I would highly recommend anyone looking for a roof replacement to use Hammersmith!

Update 9/23/23: our roof is leaking in the area of repair (which we are able to see now after photos were sent in July). We've lived in this house almost 30 years with no leaks, definitely not satisfied.Tried this company after seeing all the 5-star reviews only to find them to be very disorganized and not thorough. Sent two checks to the address on the invoice, the same address listed here and it's not their current address. After repeated requests for payment a new check was written after we paid bank to stop payment since Hammersmith wouldn't cover this charge. Very disappointed in the level of service; we never had a walk-through when the work was completed so cannot speak to the quality of the work we can't see.Services: Roof inspection, Roof repair

I cannot say enough good things about Hammersmith! They came out promptly after I submitted a request, and the service advisor, Derek, was very thorough and provided a number of options to fix my roof leak, but I opted for a full replacement since the roof was of unknown age.I got a number of other quotes, and Hammmersmith were far and away the best of anyone who provided a quote. One company didn't even come out to look before giving a quote, another said it was my gutters (for a leak halfway up the roof....), and the final one was twice the cost.Hammersmith was able to get the work scheduled while I was out of town and I came back to a perfect new roof and spotless work area. We used Hammersmith for slate roof maintenance and replacement of a flat roof, and will definitely be using them again for any future work. The system they use for scheduling appointments is very easy and convenient. Justin was wonderful to work with. He’s knowledgeable and trustworthy. His quote was half the price of another company, and he was clear about what needed to be done and why vs optional work we could do for aesthetic reasons. His quote was also extremely detailed in describing the work that would be performed (down to the type of nails and screws that would be used), which gave me confidence that Hammersmith does things the right way. Justin provided pictures of the finished work, and we believe it is high quality. There was one issue where the old roofing material was not removed right away (apparently due to miscommunication between the slate crew and flat roof crew), but Justin had it taken care of ASAP when we notified him. Finally, they use Quickbooks for billing, which made that process easy and convenient. I would highly recommend Hammersmith's. They were the only company that actually figured out the 'source' of my leak. Other companies just looked at the flashing and said "that's your problem". Given the upcoming rain, they worked me into their schedule to repair the nail hole in the shingle. Had I used other companies, my flashing would have been re-caulked, but I still would have had a leak! I felt like I was dealing with a company that really cared about their customer. Derek was a delight to work with and Justin was very responsive.I'm likely going to need an entire new roof in a few more years and I'll go straight to them for the work.Service: Roof repair

I had this company do some repair work that was caused by shotty work from another company. Justin showed me and explained exactly what happened and what was needed. When I needed work on my rental property I went back to Hammersmith. On my rental property I had him do repair work on the main house and put a new roof on my garage. Justin is fantastic. I have used hundreds of companies through the years on various homes and I can honestly say Justin is one of the best. Detail oriented, responsive, quality work and reasonable. I always know what I'm getting and when it will be completed. He follows up and checks behind his workers. Highly recommend.

I’m so glad I found Hammersmith and Justin to help us with our slate roof repairs. They were the first roof repair folks to tell us we didn’t need to get rid of the slate and replace our roof. His team was fast and professional, and the price was fair.They replaced a bunch of slates and all of the flashing around our roof. The leaks we were dealing with have stopped. Originally called Hammersmith for a roof leak. Upon making the repair, it was pointed out that there was a fair amount of wind damage to my roof. As soon as I was cleared for a new roof via insurance claim, Justin had a team ready to replace my roof on the first day of good weather.Met with Justin on 3 different occasions and he was always on time and communicated when he was on the way.
