Used Gutterman to install a new roof and gutters less than 4 years ago. We have a warranty on our roof that extends to at least 10 years. Our roof is leaking and when we called to have them honor the warranty and fix it we were told they were bought out by another company which, in turn, makes our warranty null and void. No one even tried to help us. I’m surprised after reading some of these reviews that people had roofing done less than 2 months ago. Customers beware.Review Update: I’m glad I decided to write a review because Jessica called within hours to remedy the situation. Whoever fielded our initial call from the new company was not helpful and was SUPPOSED to send us to Jessica but they didn’t. Jessica promptly remedied that situation and got Jaime out within a couple of days to check out our roof and fixed the problem on the spot (honoring our warranty). THAT my friends is customer service done right. Thank you to Jessica and Jaime for helping us!

WOW! I can’t believe a roofing contractor this good, this honest, this careful, this courteous, this professional, this experienced—not to mention, this reasonable—actually exists. But Gutterman Services of Sterling, VA, does, and if you need a new roof, you owe it to yourself to contact them. The turret roof on my Capitol Hill house was leaking badly, and Gutterman came to the rescueThe Details: roofing bandits had persuaded an elderly previous owner to replace the original (and exceptionally durable) slate tiles on the turret roof with short-lived asphalt shingles—which were now rapidly disintegrating. I wanted to stop the leaks and restore the roof to its original historic condition as required by DC Historic District guidelines.Enter Harold Boosahda, Gutterman’s superb sales technician. He told me he could put new 150-year-lifespan slate tiles from the Buckingham quarry in Arvonia, VA (“Highest quality slate on Earth”) on my roof for a far more reasonable price than what other contractors I contacted were asking for far less durable synthetic materials. Even better: Gutterman stood by its work, offering me a 10-year workmanship warranty. I was impressed. Of the dozens of area roofers tracked by Consumers’ Checkbook, I couldn’t find another one with a 10-year warranty. The best other roofers offered me was 3 years—some only 1-year. And the contract: clear, fixed, clean, tight, and easy to understand. I appreciated this. So, I signed, and the project began.Enter Tony Riggs, Gutterman’s gifted slate roof expert. Leading a crew of consummate craftsmen, he replaced the disintegrating asphalt shingles, installed new Buckingham slate tiles of the type believed to have been used in 1896 on my Victorian-era turret roof and, most importantly, stopped the leaks! And that’s not all: he and his team did a marvelous job of restoring the roof. The slate looks terrific—perfect pattern, fit, overlap, and alignment, and the copper ridge caps beautifully accent and outline the rich blue-black handmade slate. What’s more, Tony—a true and talented artist—restored and reattached the finial ornament to the turret top in a manner that preserved its robust and authentic three-dimensional attitude.And, yes, at the end, neighbors commented not only on how beautiful they found the new turret roof but how thoroughly Tony’s team had hauled away debris and cleaned up the surrounding area.My wife and I are absolutely thrilled with our new Gutterman slate roof!UPDATE: No leaks since Tony installed our Turret Slate Roof Masterpiece. We also had Tony and his team of expert Gutterman craftsmen (led by the inimitable Sergio) apply a Gaco Silicone Roof Coating System to our weathered flat terne metal roof. Advantage: No costly tear-off of our existing roof (other roofers we consulted wanted to rip off our historic metal roof and sell us a brand new modern trending bitumen/asphalt roof--with all the environmental disadvantages of an asphalt product). Only Gutterman recommended Gaco silicone coating (with a 50-year warranty) as a means of preserving rather than trashing our historic metal roof -- just another example of why you should trust Gutterman with all your roofing requirements!Services: Roof repair, Roof installation

My experience: a job finished by Gutterman is a job done right. Gutterman replaced my siding and wrapped my word trim. Fabulous work, well caulked, looks sharp. Gutterman replaced my windows. Beautiful product, expertly installed, every detail seen to. Gutterman replaced my storm door. Another beautiful product and upgrade. Gutterman replaced my skylights. No more worries about leaks, work done and redone until perfect. Gutterman even helped with venting some attic fans that the last contractor had botched. I'm so thankful for a company where craftsmanship is a way of life that shows in everything they do.Oct, 2020 update: Gutterman Services power washed my home last week, leaving it looking as new as the day they installed our new windows, siding, gutters, and trim. Their professional staff explained the job before beginning, taking me around to house to understand my expectations and to discuss what to expect. After the work, they took me around the house again to show off what was done. It was everything I wanted! This week I had them come out because a piece of siding (that they had not installed btw) came off in a storm. I called them and they were out here today and once again did a great job. My neighbor had his roof replaced. A lot of debris came into our yard. They came and did a thorough job cleaning it but tore out a lot of my grass. I told the foreman about it and he walked away. I called their main office and while on the phone with the supervisor I caught them urinating on my home. The main office offered to power wash the urine and provide grass seed but the crews they send out are unprofessional.

Great, local business with a top-notch team that won’t let you down at any turn. We replaced our roof, siding, trim, gutters, and window capping.Project Management – Jorge is amazing, helped us prioritize what we needed within budget, didn’t upsell or pressure us, and kept everything on track and was easily accessible.Roofing – Jaime is fantastic, everything was done quickly, but also done very well. Easy to see his focus on quality and correct installation, not just getting it done quicklySiding/Trim – Chris and team are top notch, they aren’t the fastest, but have a very clear focus on getting things done in a way that leaves the owner happy at the end of the project (lots of little customizations, since it’s all done manually).Now to the project; Their roofing team is top notch. Jaime was the roofing lead and he is incredible. Very communicative if something came up, but really knocked the roof out quickly without seeming to rush it. My best anecdote about how much he cares – in order to do the siding they have to anchor scaffolding to the roof, Jamie didn’t like how the shingles looked where they anchored it, so he came back and replaced all the shingles in that area after the siding was done, totally unprompted. You can tell that his priority is making sure the job is done correctly, not just done.The siding/trim team is also top notch. They “outsource” this part, but it’s local family owned team that’s top notch. Chris was our main POC, and he’s fantastic. His dad’s experience is second to none, manually bending, cutting, and installing the siding and trim. Chris wasn’t shy to ask questions about what we want done to make sure we were happy with the final result. They caught some rotted plywood when replacing siding and ran to the store and replaced it. They asked about one area that had no insulation to see if we wanted them to fill it in. They also added some designs to the trim on the front of our house which really makes it look cleaner and more intentional where we previously had flat and boring spots under windows and over our garage. We did have one issue where some siding started to sag a little about a month or two after installation, I believe it was within 48 hours Chris was out and fixed the issue, but also checked other spots to make sure it was all good to go. There was no hemming and hawing, he was very (unnecessarily) apologetic and kind about the issue.Back to Jorge for a minute – he was our main POC for the entire project, from initial review, quote, installation, and punch list items after the fact. He really helped us visualize the project in its entirety, which wasn’t easy given everything we had to do. We changed the colors of the entire house, but he also suggested the sun tunnels which have been absolutely fantastic. He really helped us stay within budget without trying to upsell us out all.He also helped us in prioritizing things like the sun tunnels, which add a lot of value to us in terms of getting more natural light in our home at a lower cost than skylights and in a way that is much more likely to stand the test of time without leaking or other issues. We originally wanted insulated siding, but when looking at the budget that was an easy one to cut out to save money, while still ensuring we're getting quality siding that will lost, and there was no push to get it back or increase our costs. Jorge was also here almost every important day when work was being done, he’d come at the beginning of each leg as well as the end, and sometimes stayed the entire day. As mentioned, they had great leads (Jaime and Chris), but it was also nice to have Jorge checking in throughout the project. He was very accessible and responsive through text, phone, and email any time we had questions or concerns (I don’t actually remember any concerns). I couldn’t recommend Jorge enough to help with your project.

We used Gutterman Services to replace our old gutters on our townhouse. Jorge came out to give us an estimate and was extremely friendly and professional. He answered all of our questions and set up our installation. The crew came while we were at work, installed the new gutters and had everything cleaned up before we got home! Updated: Gutterman was very responsive in addressing my concerns and scheduling accordingly, so I have updated my review scoring accordingly.I have been using this company for the past couple years and I've been pretty disappointed with the service. I signed up for their twice yearly service and I always have to follow up them to schedule, instead of them proactively coming to us. Secondly, signing up for the service is supposed to give you priority servicing but I don't count May as priority servicing. I have used Gutterman now several times for gutter replacements, installing heat wires on my roof to prevent ice dams and now they replaced my roof after hail damage this year. They were extremely helpful with the inspection and working with the insurance company. Then they were quick to get my work scheduled, the crew that came out was very professional, efficient and MOST of all CAREFUL while they worked to not do any further damage to the house and did a great job cleaning up!! The staff onsite and in the office are great communicators and handled my job above and beyond.I added the careful and cleanup comments specifically because I live in a townhome so I have seen many other companies doing my neighbors roofs, some appear to do good work and others were not so great so be careful who you hire and I recommend Gutterman!!These guys are great!Service: Roof installation

Not sure what part of "don't kill my plants" they didn't get. Or how many times i told them. But they managed to not listen and kill everything when doing the house power washing. Used to brag on these guys, but that's over. Cost way too much to have that bad a job.**UPDATE**Gutterman apologized for the issue. Terry came out to my place and assessed the damages. He was completely cool and easy to work with. They took money off the overall bill to help fix the damages. Updated my review since they went beyond to right a wrong. Much appreciated!

For getting gutters cleaned, they were quite good. Timely, efficient, reasonably priced for the area. But we asked them to also help with a gutter repair/reroute, which they agreed to do. After their visit plus four phone calls and multiple promises (by the person supposedly on charge of repairs) to get back to us, we gave up. Part of my gutter came detached during a storm. I was able to get an estimate and an appointment in just a few days time. My installation took around 4 hours. The installers were friendly and professional. The quality of the materials was far better than my existing gutters. Excellent, knowledgeable, professional installation of new 6” gutters and downspouts. Great value for upgraded gutters and spouts. On time and cleanup was great. Downspouts were attached tightly so no wind chatter. The crew went above and beyond - even installing an elbow on one downspout onto a lower roof to slow and spread the water output. Had the team come out to install Gutter Guards and to replace some boards & finish my desk.Gutter Guard Install was good, they came were in an out in a day, too easy.The first application of finish on the desk bubbled and peeled within 24 hours, but the team came out to fix it. Normally i would say this is great customer service, except i had to email them multiple times, and they painted up several my electrical boxes.Upon further inspection there are still several loose boards, and it appears that upon discovery of a gap between two boards, instead of replacing it they cut a shim out of a 2x4 and slotted it in with no nails/screws and then sprayed over it.TL:DR, stick to gutters.Services: Gutter installation, Deck repair

I was impressed with the Gutterman Services from start to finish. The sales team was responsive, and had an estimator on my premises in a very short period of time. The estimator took a long time to make precise measurement and reviewed options with me. We chose an option I am very happy with. Because of the work up front, the installation team came out in just a few days, thoroughly cleaned the gutters, and installed gutter guards on all of my gutters in about an hour! Clean, courteous, and fast! I rarely write reviews, because I normally expect what I pay for. Gutterman Services truly put passion into what they do - and they do it really really well.

Jim was a pleasure to work with and Gutterman coordinated with NOVA painting to pull down the gutters; so the painters could complete their job and get the house ready for the new gutters.
