Shiner came out within 48hrs of my call for an estimate. Bill sis not take my word for what caused the leak, he went up on the roof to inspect…AND into my attic to inspect further! Based on that, and his decades of roofing experience, they provided a reasonable quote to fix the problem. Once crew arrived, work was done quickly, thoroughly, and well. No leaks since!I would recommend Shiner for any roofing needs.

We have been in our home 19 years without a roof problem, but that luck ran out in May when a large branch came down and punctured the roof above our kitchen. The insurance claim covered the problem and they gave us three companies to contact. Two of them provided quotes, but as luck would have it our adjuster went on vacation for a week. During that week Shiner was replacing two roofs at my wife's school (a few buildings on the campus are former residences), and both she and the school were very happy with the work performed. So... we asked Shiner for a quote on our roof as a company that wasn't as "intimately" connected to our insurance company.They scheduled an appointment, arrived on time and did a thorough inspection of the roof from above and from the attic. (the other two vendors did not get on the roof or in the attic because the adjuster was not on scene and did not want to be accused of "creating damage").The Shiner bid was submitted to insurance as a third bid and the adjuster approved the "middle bid" cost.The Shiner quote was the highest (each of the three bids were separated by about $1000), but we were willing to pay the difference because of their reviews and the recommendation of my wife's school.The job took one day. They arrived on time (before 8am) and were done by 5pm for our fairly easy roof. And the clean up was comprehensive (likely blowing more leaves/debris off my rear deck than they created).Like other reviews, we did have an additional cost for replacement board. However, this was not a surprise, as the Shiner rep that did the initial inspection identified several soft areas of the roof that would likely need new wood due to having already been through prior re-roofing/shingling.The cost of replacement wood has been mentioned in other reviews and it was slightly higher than the other vendors per sheet, but not outrageously. When I asked about the difference in their quoted cost and the cost of sheet at Home Depot, they pointed out that their cost includes delivery and installation (plus removal and haul away of the old wood), not just the sheet of wood itself.We are very pleased with the result and our neighbor who works in home construction was also very satisfied with Shiner's work.It was also the little details that we appreciated about the Shiner work. I didn't notice in their quote that they would paint the chimney to match, but I noticed it when I got home and in the photos. The "whole roof" got a refresh, not just the shingles.We fully recommend the Shiner team.(the one caveat for homeowners -- would be to designate areas of your landscaping you would like to protect - while Shiner did a great job protecting/covering the plants near the house, the team did wind up putting a cooler and stuff on our bushy green patch of Flox - which was past it's spring flowering/bloom. Likely they just didn't recognize it as a part of the landscaping.)

We fully recommend the Shiner team. Shiner has been making repairs to our roof for the past 16 years. They have helped us extend the life of our roof by patching it to avoid having to do a full replacement. This is the fourth roof repair job that they have done for us, since we moved into this home 17years ago. (The previous owner had another roofer replace the entire roof, without removing the existing shingles, which has created a host of issues/problems). We have been very pleased with the results the job took one day. They arrived on time and were done by 4pm for our fairly easy roof repair. They aren't the cheapest, but I felt very comfortable with the work and feel it is value/quality for money.

We found Shiner on Google as one of five companies we looked at for gutter, roof, and siding replacement. Shiner was really professional and thorough and put together a very good proposal (they were right in the middle price wise). They followed up as we weighed our options to make sure we had everything we needed. Communication was very good. The roof and gutters were done quickly; there was a wait for the siding but it was done in a few days. Everything was done well and the house looks great. The job was performed on time as expected. I'm very happy with the workmanship and quality of the products used. This roof will last and look good for a very long time. There were 6 shingle-roofers and 2 flat-roofers involved and everyone worked together very well. The supervisors and the job foreman were responsive to questions. I am confident that Shiner will be responsive should any issues arise in the future.

I paid an outrageous amount less than two years ago for a new roof. My instructions were, "what ever needs to be done I want to do it now because I do not want to have to do this again for another 15 yrs." less than two years later I have a leak because Shriner did NOT complete the job professionally. I called them and they finally sent an inspector out four weeks later. Finally, they said it wasn't their problem. Not only that, management won't even take my calls. Don't waste your money. Go to someone else. Totally inexcusable and very disappointed.Now paying over $20,000.00 for a new roof, new gutters, replacing wood, etc because they were unprofessional. I do things right the first time so I don't have to do it every other year. Also, Shriner's hiring practices need to be investigated. They appear to be cutting too many corners.

The estimator was friendly, helpful, and very knowledgeable about the materials, the work, and the various housing styles in neighborhoods within the City. It took us a while to get the appropriate permits from the Homeowners Association and the City, however, those are required to be completed by the homeowners. Once we had the permits, the work began almost immediately. Shiner Roofing sent a professional and highly experienced team of workers. The vertical slope of the mansard roof is challenging and the work has to be done from a ladder. We had a day of rain during the project, and they made sure nothing was exposed. The back-office kept us updated so we knew when to expect the workers, and they also provided photographs. The workers replaced one section of the plywood sheathing because it was rotten. Shiner Roofing's price was within $100 of what our homeowner’s insurance was willing to pay. The roof looks awesome, and the house feels tighter. We are very pleased.Service: Roof installation

I was very pleased with the siding repair job . We had a leak on the side of the house and during heavy rain storms the water flowed under my porch roof. The technician had it corrected within an hour and a half and used a piece of siding from behind my garage so it matches the side of the house and they also corrected a few cracked pieces between my garage doors. He did a great job, the two new siding pieces blending very well with the old siding pieces behind my garage and I certainly would recommend Shiner Exteriors again to anyone.

My project was to replace 20 builder windows in 25 years old house. The whole work was handled very professionally and with no sale pressure. I really liked the quality of the Sunrise brand. Indtallation was handled in 2 days, with break for rain days and them my unavailability. Job site was cleaned up, all minor items I found were resolved on the spot. This is local business and I loved dealing with them, rather than one of two behemoths of home improvement not to be named. Our experience with Shiner Exteriors was exceptional. They replaced our roof, which was damaged in a hail storm. They coordinated all of the work with us, a public adjuster and the insurance company. We did not have to get involved in any of the details. Because of the insurance claim, the process did take some time to resolve, but Shiner and the adjuster continually updated us on the project.The installation process was also very professional. We previously had Shiner replace the siding on our house and they did such a great job and have been so good when we've had remodeling projects that required siding adjustments that they earned our repeat business. Our shingles were at the end of their lifespan and Shiner came out, inspected the roof, gave us a reasonable quote for replacement with new shingles, and then did the job after we coordinated to temporarily remove some solar panels from a portion of the roof to be re-shingled. Our experience with Shiner was excellent, from soup to nuts. Initially they were very organized and responsive on the phone. Office staff and field staff were well coordinated and they came to do an estimate at the scheduled appointment. They were very cordial and professional, they took pictures of all the areas that required repair and the scheduled us relatively quickly for those repairs. Shiner replaced our 35 year old aluminum siding and wrapped our trim. They made the replacement of our siding a pleasant experience. From review of initial requirements, estimates, actual replacement of siding and cleanup, we were impressed with the friendliness, professionalism and expertise of the Shiner team. We love the results of the finished project and the house looks new. Of course, a project like this requires time (6 days in our case) and one needs to understand that workers will pretty much take over the outside of the house to install the new siding which requires working long hours and hammering nails. The team was very polite when my wife and I would periodically ask questions regarding installation and tweaks to the original plan. The team was always prompt, arriving each day at the agreed to time and, at quitting time, cleaning up before leaving. Upon completion of the installation, the team did a final cleanup including picking up any debris. We highly recommend Shiner Exteriors.

We could not be more pleased with the roof replacement by Shiner’s Roofing. Our wind damaged roof was replaced by a talented team of installers who took the time to install the plywood where needed, the custom molded flashing, shingles and sealed every possible point to prevent future leaks. I met with Bill to get an estimate for some roofing repairs and gutter work we needed. One aspect that I really appreciated is that Bill went up on the roof to look around where a previous company did not. Since our roof is high off of the ground I don't know how an assessment can be made without going up on it. We had an inspection report but I thought it would be helpful to have another set of expert eyes to look over everything. Bill offered great suggestions on our gutter issues as well.Once we signed the contract with Shiner everything fell into place. The work was completed as scheduled and Shiner communicated throughout the entire process in terms of timing of work as the roofing work was completed by a different crew than the gutter work.After the work was completed we were emailed photos of the work areas which is, of course, very helpful since we could not view the areas from the ground. Shiner did a terrific job on our unique project in Northern Virginia. Our older home was suffering from a leaky roof installed 20 years ago without proper ventilation. The Shiner team came up with a winning approach to solving our unique ventilation issues and installed a beautiful new (and properly vented) roof. The were quick and creative in solving the inevitable problems that show up once you peel the old roof off. They were also professional, courteous, neat, and efficient during the day of installation. First off - I am a large proponent of "live local, shop local" and searched for a Sterling (or at least Loudoun Co) based business when I needed a full roof replacement. Shiner roofing did an amazing job with our emergency roof replacement. After a strong rain, there was serious water leakage in an upstairs bedroom. I called Shiner roofing the next day and they were out within half an hour and had put a temporary patch that lasted through two more heavy rains! Then they helped guide me through my insurance claim, helped me attain low-cost financing for 'extras' that my insurance would not cover (better replacement shingles and gutters with gutter guards were add-ons I chose). They had the whole job done in a day and I cannot be happier with the result. When the large wind storm of 2018 came through, my roof looked exactly the same as it did the day before - not a shingle or cap out of place. Looking forward to using their services for other home improvements as they become needed. (Note: Gutters had not yet been installed in 2nd photo).

My experience with Shiner was truly fantastic. I could not have had a better experience. Their estimate was reasonable (better than another company), the workmanship and attention to detail was top notch, they kept me informed as scheduling and the work progressed, and everyone was incredibly helpful and pleasant to deal with. This might not just be the best roofing company, but the best experience I have ever had hiring and working with a repair company of any kind. If you have to wait for them to get to your project it is because they are so in demand, but certainly worth the wait. I wish I could give them more stars.Service: Roof repair

The charge of $825 to replace a single broken/missing slate is outrageous. The work took no more than 15 minutes. Also, having an estimator sent in advance for small jobs is an unnecessary expense, the cost of which clearly gets passed on to the customer.

Shiner installed four skylights for me in January 2022, replacing the original four from the 1980s which had failed and were leaking. They were swift to give me an estimate and booked me in for a few weeks later for the installation. The price was fair, the service was excellent, the staff incredibly courteous throughout and I will definitely use again. I've hired Shiner Exteriors for two repair jobs in the past and a recent installation. The recent work was a replacement of the flat roof over my front porch. The workers did an excellent job, which included removing and reinstalling a custom wood railing. The crew was very friendly, professional and did an excellent job of cleaning up the work area. The new roof looks great and I expect the white TPO material will last much longer than the old black rubber.The only reason I did not give Shiner a 5-star rating is because they could not handle the replacement of the rotten wood trim that went under the roof flashing. The project lead was a great guy, and he did explain they used to do that work, but it's not currently something they do. I joked that with the recent name change from 'Shiner Roofing' to 'Shiner Exteriors' the company would include services such as external trim work. I could not find another contractor in time before the roof was installed, so I ended up doing it myself, which included replairing some of the roof framing that had rotten. I would have happily paid Shiner to do this work, but it was not worth the hassle to get another contractor and push out the roof repair.Services: Roof inspection, Roof repair, Roof installation
