Thank you, Evergreen Homes NW, for crafting our dream home! We have a beautiful custom home that meets our needs and lifestyle perfectly. We wanted a builder who really delivered outstanding design, quality, craftsmanship, attention to detail, and value. Evergreen has exceeded our expectations on each of our five criteria. The quality of the materials that went into our home matches the quality of the work. We found true craftsmanship and attention to detail in nearly every facet of our home.Most homeowners probably don’t give a second thought to the work done by the framers as their work gets covered up. During a visit, we inspected their work with a framing square, level, and tape measure – we were blown away with the accuracy of their work – floors that are truly level, plumb walls, and square corners! The finish work is equally impressive. We have natural wood doors, windows, and millwork so you cannot mask mistakes with caulk. From excavation to final finish – everything is amazing, and we greatly appreciate the hard work all the trades put into building our dream home. You can tell they care!Our custom design started as a sketch Chris made on a yellow pad while sitting with us on a log on our property. He incorporated everything we wanted and quite a few things we had not even thought about. We were living in Maryland throughout the entire design and build process, yet Chris, Sterling, Linda, Tama, and Lisa made it feel like we were just down the street. Through their outstanding communication, doing a long-distance build was not an issue. Sterling was wonderful in managing the team of craftsman who built our home. He spent a good amount of time with us during an early visit to understand what was important to us. He then went out of his way to ensure every detail we wanted was simply perfect.

Evergreen Homes NW is a family operation and we worked very closely with Chris Sundstrom, the owner, and his wonderful family. Evergreen has been operating for about nine years, but Chris has been doing this much longer.His daughter Becky, a former two-time U.S. Olympic speed skater, handled marketing and his other daughter, Tama, also a former world class speed skater, was in charge of design, planning and architecture. Son-in-law, Sterling, was our foreman, handling the day-to-day, on-site, hands-on operations during construction. The family are all extremely friendly, helpful, and, most importantly, honest.I did quite a bit of research (due diligence) online before meeting the Sundstroms as well as talking to former customers, colleagues, and even other area builders, finding nothing but positive information.I felt very comfortable working with the Sundstroms and the Evergreen team and can highly recommend them if you find yourself needing a home built or a remodel done. Evergreen Homes NW provided the energy-efficient, all-electric home of our dreams. The homesite with an unobstructed forest-view drew us in, and the daylight basement home's beautiful modern finishes and impeccable craftsmanship provide daily happiness. These are not your typical new-builds in a cookie cutter neighborhood. Each home is designed especially for its particular site.Chris Sundstrom, the chief builder owner, really listened to our needs, and made sure we made the right home decision. Working with him and his foreman, Sterling, before and after move-in was easy and continues to be so five months later. They were both responsive to all of our questions and needs. Evergreen homes make a beautiful custom home. We loved working with Nick, Chris, Tama and the rest of the team to make our custom home dreams come true. As rewarding as it is building your current dream home, it can also be a very stressful process (especially dealing with the added bonus of COVID). There was stress and there were setbacks but the team did their very best to meet us in the middle and were quick to fix any miscommunications that came up along the way which is what you'd want from your builder. There are budgets, timelines, decisions, and many questions to work through but their kindness and patience were invaluable in a very stressful time. It was so fun designing our home and extremely rewarding seeing it all come together throughout the process. We are going to enjoy raising our family in this home for years to come!

Evergreen Homes has done an excellent job building our new home! They worked with us during the challenging time of the pandemic, sharply increasing lumber and materials costs and so forth. They found ways to make what we wanted a reality. They really went above and beyond to give us updates, answered every email and kept in touch throughout the entire building process. They have a lot of local resources and contacts that they were able to refer us to. Everyone from the office staff to the building foreman worked hard to keep us on time and on budget. Our house was more beautiful than we could have imagined and we love it. I highly recommend Evergreen Homes and would 100% use them again.

We have been very happy with the house that Evergreen custom built for us. We have lived in for 2 years now and love it. The winter winds here on Bristol Ridge are extreme, but Evergreen built a solid and tight house that does not creak in the wind and holds heat in well. I think Evergreen delivers good value for what you pay. Having a home custom built is not for the faint-hearted. A buyer has to negotiate many details with the builder and then make sure the builder is executing accordingly. A few times we had to get rather insistent on some details, but we were ultimately satisfied on all points. In general, Evergreen was good at accommodating our wishes while staying under budget, more than once going beyond what they had to. We have not had a house custom built before, so we have no basis for comparison, but our buyer's agent said that Evergreen gave us much more attention and interaction in the design and construction process than is typical for custom home builders.

My husband and I consider ourselves very fortunate to have chosen Evergreen Homes as our builder. We lived in eastern Oregon but wanted to move closer to Portland and family, we checked out many builders but from the first contact with Evergreen they were superior. We were very specific in what we wanted in our home and had looked at many floor plans but couldn't find the exact one we wanted. Working with Chris Sundstrom and his architect/designer, Tama, we were able to incorporate all the features we wanted in a design that perfectly fit our needs. During the entire construction process we received all the help, information and guidance we had hoped for. All of the crews that worked on our home were top quality; we had been very involved in our last home construction and my husband is a skilled handyman so we know a little more than average. Our foreman, Sterling, was absolutely top notch, he is dedicated, personable, a perfectionist and we felt that our home was truly important to him. Linda who handled all the permits necessary for building on virgin land with a year round creek was so professional, calm and persistent, I can't imagine trying to go through this process on our own. Lisa, who handled all the financial issues was also exemplary, she navigated us through the process and was always available to take our calls or answer a text. When it came time to chose our finishes Tama was better than I could have ever hoped for, she has wonderful taste, a great depth of knowledge and was able to take our style and preferences and guide us in choosing tile, flooring, counters, windows, doors etc in a way that I have seen on such shows as Property Brothers but never thought I would have access to. Evergreen Homes was all we had hoped for and we absolutely love our new home!

They worked with us to reduce costs where we could, yet keep what was most important to us when labor rates increased in our area. Outstanding company to work with! Chris was very patient and helpful during the entire process of trying to find the right home and layout for us. After multiple meetings with him, my wife and I finally decided on the home that fit our needs was already in the beginning stages of the building process in the subdivision just blocks from our current home at the time. We were able to make the changes we desired without any issues at all.Once we met with the foreman on our home, Sterling, everything went like clockwork. He addressed every need, issue, question, and concern that we had. He understands how stressful building a new home can be and he was absolutely wonderful to work with. Even after the build, any question or minor issue we had (new homes will always have something small that needs to be addressed) was immediately taken care of. Now that's service after the sale! We still chat and text each other even though we've been in the house for over 4 months. We are truly blessed to know him and if he's in charge of the build in your house, you'll quickly know what I mean when I say the man is truly a special person!Tama's designs in the home were much better than we would have picked by ourselves. Everything from the exterior paint to the color of the floors flowed beautifully. She is truly gifted in the art of new home design! From speaking with other home owners in the neighborhood, she is fantastic to work with when it comes to choosing colors and designs during the entire process.If you're trying to find a quality minded and honest builder for your home and are shopping around for one...take notice. I'll be frank. Evergreen is a "little" more expensive (at first glance) than other builders that just "spit out" a house. But upon reviewing what actually goes into the house and how they're built, the overall value of the build is far superior than a lot of other builders in the area. Quality and service are their two main priorities when building your home from top to bottom. Everything from the lifetime rated roofs, to the extra insulation, tankless water heater, built in shelves in the living room, Shaw carpets with extra padding, outstanding tile and granite work throughout the home, the attention to detail in everything they do is absolutely outstanding! They go the extra mile in everything they do that the list is too much to even write. One other selling point is they only build a few houses at a time instead of spreading themselves too thin building many of them at once. This allows each foreman to concentrate on your needs during the process.We're happy homeowners and if this review still doesn't convince you to build with Evergreen Homes NW, then give them a call and see for yourself. When my wife and I first met with Chris, he told us he didn't want to waste his time with us. He questioned whether we could afford the house he was selling. He finally agreed and showed us two different lots, when I asked him to send me the floor plans, he sent me two different ones that were cheaper than the ones we had viewed.After viewing lot 313 on Royal Terrace, he told my wife that he doesn't spend a lot of money on landscaping because he invests the money in the house. He then told my wife that shouldn't be a problem for us since we have a "Juan" referring to me, I am Mexican American.We decided to go forward with putting a lot hold and making a modification of $17,500 to the lot 313 on Royal Terrace. We agreed to a price of $805K to $815 in March with a completion date of mid-June. In April, I requested the Sales Agreement to lock in the interest rate. When I requested it, he increased the price to $865. He then proceeded to tell me that if I didn't agree to this increase, he would keep my $17,500.It was only after I hired an attorney, that he agreed to give me my $10,000’s back. I refused and told him that the attorneys would figure it out. He told me I would lose and that I would have to pay his attorney fees and he would also get to keep my $17,500. A week later the attorneys did a settlement agreement, and I got all my money back.Service: Home building
